Sightseeing in Florø
With its wide range of sights to explore, Strandgata street in the heart of Florø is well worth a visit. Read the information signs attached to historic buildings in the city to learn more about Florø's history and what it was like to live here in the past. You will be surprised to learn how much went on in these streets!
The Coastal Museum in Sogn and Fjordane
The Coastal Museum in Sogn og Fjordane showcases the natural and cultural history of the coast. The exhibition halls provide a glimpse of daily life on the coast, the development of the town of Florø, tools used for fishing and hunting, and a large collection of local boats. The museum is located on a lovely spacious coastal site within walking distance of Florø town centre.
Havhesten
If the weather is of the wet type, one can drop into the swimming pool Havhesten in Florø, which has activities for big and small.
Roundtrip of the islands around Florø
Take the fantastic roundtrip with the local boat to the islands around Florø. The local boat drives towards west and then north, but they change direction. Ask the crew which way the boat goes. You can not go ashore during the roundtrip, but you watch the view from deck.
Nature
Sørstrand
Sørstrand Folkepark is a recreation area two kilometers from the center of Florø. Here you will find a sandy beach, walking trails, a barbeque area with tables and benches and a beach volleyball sand court. The area is accessible for wheelchairs.
Brandsøyåsen
Brandsøyåsen (293 masl) is a popular hike and viewpoint in Florø. From the top you can enjoy panoramic views of the fjords, mountains and islands surrounding Florø.
Fløgjen
Fløgjen is a 10 minute drive from Florø towards Førde. The walk up to Fløgjen takes about an hour and has a lovely view of Nordalsfjorden, Eikefjord and Florø.
Storåsen
In the center of Florø, you find Storåsen with a lovely view of the islands surrounding Florø and of the city center.
Food
There is a variety of great places in Florø where you can get something to eat and drink, or grab a quick bite on the go.
Vesle Kinn is Kinn brewery’s beer café in the centre of Florø. Some of the beers from the test brewery located in the same building, you'll only find at Vesle Kinn. You'll also find almost the whole Kinn selection on bottles, but also beers from other Norwegian breweries and of course classics from foreign breweries.
Lille Marked is a cozy cafe and deli in the center of Florø. They offer an urban atmosphere with good dishes and a variety of beverages. They also have a fresh produce disk.
Europa restaurant is where the nordic & Europe meets. By allowing the simplicity of Norwegian products to shine, they create dishes that are not only visually stunning but also deeply satisfying.
Bolette is located on the ground floor of Comfort Hotel Victoria in Florø, and is an urban encounter with coastal culture. Here you can enjoy a good meal or just have a drink.
Hjørnevikbua Restaurant is located on the second floor of the historic Hjørnevikbua at Strandgata 23 – the oldest commercial building in Florø. The pub is on the first floor.
Haavebua is an over 100-year-old fisherman’s shack that has long traditions in Florø town. Here you can enjoy food and beverages, with a focus on local producers in maritime surroundings.
Aroma Cafe is a small cafe with a variety of homemade food and pastries.
Naustdal Dampbakeri is one of the oldest businesses in the area, which serves its handmade bread and pastries with a selection of coffee, tea and other beverages. Naustdal Dampbakeri is a one minute walk from the conference.
